During the height of a year of uncertainty marred by the pandemic Outlaw Street Car Reunion (OSCR) series owner, Tyler Crossnoe took a leap of faith in September at the Shakedown Nationals XVIII and delivered a surprise announcement alongside Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) track owner Tommy Franklin.
Sportsman racers and fans alike drawn to the OSCR series grassroots racing style were concerned about its fate since the seventh running of the event in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was called off in early 2020.
Now, Crossnoe announced, not only would he stage a comeback for the event in 2021, but the series would have a new home at VMP, offering one of the fastest racing surfaces in the country.
“We are excited to host this event at VMP and bring the world’s best small tire drag racers to one place to fight it out for big money and huge bragging rights at the world’s quickest drag radial track,” Crossnoe said.
The Fueltech Outlaw Street Car Reunion VIII will be held at VMP, April 22-24. The event draws the fastest radial racers in the nation to battle for dominance in Radial vs The World, Pro 275, X275, and Ultra Street classes. Local stars compete in Top Sportsman, 5.49 and 5.90 Index. Scoreboards will be off for the N/T Street Shootout and N/T Big Tire Shootout classes but make no mistake the action will be heavy and intense.
“This event has always been near and dear to me for a number of reasons,” Crossnore explained. “It really pushed my career to where it is today. We’ve met so many great people through this event along with it being the last race that my Dad ever got to attend before he passed away a few months following the very first OSCR event in 2014 at Memphis. The memories, the smiles, the thrill of victory, and running personal bests or national records have long made this event one of my favorites to not only promote and be a part of but just attend as a fan of the sport.”
Hot Rod Media got the call from Crossnoe at the end of 2020 to begin work on a video to celebrate OSCR’s history, going back to 2014 at Memphis International Raceway to the 2018 move to Beechbend Raceway Park. The promo would feature many record-breaking moments through the years, including Jason Michalak’s 2015 world record 3.97-second run—the fastest in Drag Radial history at the time. Then, wrap up with a teaser to pump up fans and racers for the 2021 comeback—The Fueltech Outlaw Street Car Reunion VIII at VMP, April 22-24.
“This is not our first experience with Hot Rod Media and will definitely not be our last,” according to Crossnoe, “The attention to detail in building a promotional product that was dreamed up in my mind was spot on to a T,” adding, “I highly recommend Hot Rod Media for all of the event promotion needs for your business as I will continue to use them for events at Virginia Motorsports Park as well as PDRA events across the country.”
Hot Rod Media specializes in supercharged ads custom-built to fuel the passion of race fans for motorsports brands, venues, and leagues.
